WINTER NEWSLETTER
CONTINENTAL GYNECOLOGIC SOCIETY
Dec, 2022
To all CGS members, spouses and friends;
Happy holidays to all. I hope everyone is surviving this once in a generation winter storm. The wind chill in St. Louis last night was – 35 degrees. I passed on getting out and shoveling any snow!!!! On to the news.
It seems like I have been writing about the Jacksonville meeting for the last 5 years. Well it is about to happen. The dates for the Jacksonville meeting are May 17th through May 21, 2023. Ramon and Melena are making plans for what sounds like and exciting meeting. Reservations can be made at the “Ponte Vedra Inn and Club” online with the link that I sent in the last newsletter or by phone at 800-234-7842. Ask for the CGS block of rooms to get the discount and are available until the first part of April, 2023. There are two types of rooms available, the “Historic Inn”, $329/night, which is where the meeting rooms will be or the “Beachfront” rooms, $349/night which are on the beach a short walk from the meeting rooms. Rooms may be canceled or changed until 7 days prior to the start of the meeting.
Ted Nagel is the president this year and he is looking forward to banging the gavel. He will preside over the meeting. Steven Ory is the president – elect and is creating the scientific program. He still needs two more speakers, so volunteers would be appreciated. Contact Steve at sjory@msn.com. to volunteer. Paul Burstein is the CME chairman which is a thankless job that requires a lot of work each year. So, I would like to thank him for the thankless job he does.
And guess what. It is almost time for the 2023 CGS dues. The dues this year are $100 per member. Please send a check to R. Don Bale, 900 Revere Drive, St. Louis, Mo. 63141. Make the check payable to CGS. We will see if anyone can beat Paul Burstein in being the first one to get their check in. The CGS financial situation is good but we will start to get some bills in the next couple of months, so get your dues in.
At the meeting this year it appears that we may initiate two new members. Both have attended meetings and Margaret O’Hare has given a lecture previously. Melissa Hodge is giving a lecture in Jacksonville. Both seem to be ideal fits for our society. If anyone has any guests that they would like to invite to Jacksonville, please let me know so I can get meeting and society information to them.
Melissa and Neil Hague have volunteered to have the 2024 meeting in Wichita. They have already started to make plans and will give us a preview in Jacksonville. Joe and Ellen Kryc have expressed some interest in hosting a meeting in Phoenix and Ramon and Melena Castillo (after a short break from the Jacksonville meeting) have agreed to set up a meeting in Puerto Rico. So, we may have sites for the 2025 and 2026 meetings.
If anyone has any news they would like me to include in the next newsletter, please let me know. If anyone has any pictures or information they would like on the website please get it to Mike Chirino at mike@chirino.org.
Have a Happy New Year and I look forward to seeing everyone in Jacksonville!!!!!!!!!!!!
Respectfully,
R. Don Bale; Sec. – Treasurer
