Since 1949, there have been annual meetings in such diverse places as Spain, Sweden, Bermuda, Puerto Rico, Banff, Quebec City, London, and numerous US cities. Members come from all aspects of obstetrics and gynecology, with equal numbers of academic, clinical, and private practice physicians. There is geographic, gender, and age diversity, too, which adds to the unique mix of interests.
The annual meeting consists of morning presentations by the members and visiting faculty from the host city followed by tours, adventures, and education with the spouses in the afternoon and evening. It is during these social times that the friendships are forged, the science is debated, and mutual affection reinforced. The local hosts endeavour to show off their cities, creating opportunities not usually available to the casual visitor. Meals in private clubs, special tours of museums, dinner in a castle, and visits to the club room at a race track are just some of the offerings in past meetings.
