Membership is by invitation. The process starts by attending a meeting as an invitee of a member. If both the candidate and the Society are interested, the candidate presents a scientific paper at a future meeting. Following the presentation, the membership votes to invite the candidate to join the Society. The results are announced during the final banquet of that meeting.

Attendance at the meetings is anticipated but perfect attendance is not required. Spouses, significant others, and families are welcomed at the meetings; indeed, the strength of the Continental lies in the close ties which are made from the yearly travels together.

The Continental Gynecologic Society has a 60 year history. Its members include presidents of national societies, department chairs, text book authors, and thought leaders in obstetrics and gynecology. They find kindred spirits in the CGS and continue a legacy of education, travel, and fellowship.
